Dancing on Air

Many of you will have been following the progress of BDSA member Katie Harrison and Steve Drew as they prepared and perfected their dance routines for this year’s Strictly Air Ambulance competition. Held on 9th March, Katie and Steve did themselves proud competing on the dancefloor with four other hopeful couples in front of an 800-strong crowd to cheer them on.

Now in its twelfth year, Strictly Air Ambulance raises essential funds for the Essex & Hertfordshire Air Ambulance Team. Thanks to the amazing efforts of Katie, Steve and their fellow contestants, this year’s event raised over £40,000 for the air ambulance crew. That’s more than double the total from 2023.

Katie was delighted to be part of the star-studded event and getting the chance to share the Brentwood Centre dance floor with her partner.  “While we didn’t make it to the final three, Steve and I had an incredible time competing in Strictly Air Ambulance. It’s fantastic to have raised so much money for the team and it felt amazing to dance our Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble in front of such a supportive audience.”

BDSA’s Director of Engagement & Education, Kai Widdrington also played a role in the proceedings along with fellow Strictly pro, Nadiya Bychkova. The pair joined the judging panel for the evening and also donned their dancing shoes to wow the lucky crowd with two awesome dance performances.

Early bird tickets for the next year’s event will be on sale soon. Check here for details and keep Saturday 15th March 2025 free for another night of spectacular dancing!
