Tap Dance

Tap dance is a rhythmic and energetic dance style where dancers use metal taps on the soles of their shoes to create percussive sounds. It combines movement, musicality, timing, coordination, and rhythm, making the dancer both a performer and a musician.

Tap routines often include steps such as shuffles, flaps, brushes, riffs, cramp rolls, time steps, turns, and travelling movements. Dancers create patterns of sound by striking the floor with different parts of the foot, using changes in speed, weight, and dynamics.

The style can be playful, theatrical, smooth, or highly technical depending on the music and choreography. It is often performed to jazz, musical theatre, swing, pop, or rhythm-based music.

Tap dance places strong emphasis on clear sound quality, rhythm, control, posture, coordination, and performance confidence. It is commonly seen in classes, competitions, stage shows, musical theatre, film, and live performances.

Tap is an engaging and expressive dance style that develops musical awareness, precision, creativity, and strong performance skills.
