Rhythm
Rhythm dance is a lively and expressive partner dance style known for its strong musicality, body action, timing, and personality. It is often associated with American Rhythm ballroom, which includes dances such as Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, and Mambo.
Each dance has its own character and musical feel. Cha Cha is sharp and playful, Rumba is slower and more expressive, Swing is upbeat and energetic, Bolero is smooth and romantic, and Mambo is fast, rhythmical, and exciting.
Rhythm dance places strong emphasis on hip action, footwork, coordination, posture, partner connection, and performance quality. Dancers use grounded movement, sharp accents, turns, arm styling, and expressive body actions to bring the music to life.
It is commonly seen in competitions, social dancing, showcases, and dance schools. Rhythm dance combines technical skill with confidence, expression, and energy, making it an engaging style that celebrates movement, music, and personality.
