Latin American
Latin American dance is a vibrant and expressive partner dance style known for its rhythm, energy, body action, and strong performance quality. It includes dances such as Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive, each with its own character, timing, and musical style.
Cha Cha Cha is sharp, playful, and rhythmical, while Samba is lively and bouncy with strong carnival influences. Rumba is slower and more expressive, often focusing on connection and emotion. Paso Doble is dramatic and powerful, inspired by Spanish-style movement and performance. Jive is fast, energetic, and full of kicks, flicks, and playful footwork.
Latin American dance places strong emphasis on timing, coordination, posture, hip action, footwork, and connection between partners. Dancers need confidence, control, musicality, stamina, and strong stage presence to perform the style well.
It is commonly seen in competitions, social dancing, showcases, and stage performances. Latin American dance combines technical skill with personality and flair, making it an exciting and engaging style that celebrates rhythm, expression, and partnership.
