Argentine Tango
Argentine Tango is a passionate and highly expressive partner dance known for its close connection, improvisation, musicality, and dramatic atmosphere. Originating in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, it developed as a social dance before becoming recognised around the world as both a cultural tradition and performance style.
Unlike some structured ballroom dances, Argentine Tango is often improvised, with the lead and follow responding to the music and to each other in the moment. Dancers use subtle body communication, weight changes, pauses, pivots, and intricate footwork to create movement that feels intimate, controlled, and deeply musical.
Argentine Tango requires balance, posture, awareness, trust, and sensitivity between partners. It is both technically demanding and emotionally rich, making it a dance style that combines elegance, intensity, and personal expression.
