Acro
Acro dance is a dynamic style that blends classical dance technique with acrobatic skills. It combines controlled movement, strength, flexibility, balance, and fluid transitions to create routines that are both athletic and expressive.
Dancers often perform movements such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, aerials, balances, tumbling skills, and partner lifts, but these are integrated smoothly into choreography rather than presented as separate tricks. A strong acro routine should maintain musicality, storytelling, and dance quality while showcasing impressive physical ability.
Technique is especially important in acro dance. Dancers need good alignment, core strength, flexibility, coordination, and safe landing skills to perform movements correctly and reduce the risk of injury. Training usually develops progressively, starting with basic balances and rolls before advancing to more complex acrobatic elements.
