The British DanceSport Association is proud to announce the launch of its Youth Advisory Group
(BDSAYAG) – a powerful and inspiring step forward in ensuring that young voices are at the very
heart of dance sport. We are incredibly proud to welcome Anna Vallelly, Chloe Barlow,
Christopher Quigg, Erin Gathercole, Jenny Carney and Rachel Everitt.
We are delighted to welcome these six outstanding Youth Advisors to the inaugural BDSAYAG
after completing the application and interview process. Each young person has been carefully
selected for their drive, passion, and commitment to shaping a better future for dance. These
young individuals represent the very best of our community, not only as dancers, dance teachers
or aspiring choreographers, but also as future leaders, advocates, and changemakers.
The Youth Advisory Group has been established to ensure that young people are meaningfully
involved in shaping the work of the BDSA, bringing fresh perspectives, lived experiences, and
innovative ideas to the table.
This group will play a vital role in embedding the youth voice across the BDSA and beyond to
support our members and partner organisations and provide valuable insight to inform future
projects and plans. Their work directly supports our mission to create a fair, transparent, and
inclusive dance sport environment for all.
Our Youth Advisors will have the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of exciting
initiatives and projects over the next two years. They will have the opportunity to act as
ambassadors for dance sport and to support the development of the next cohort of Youth
Advisors as they graduate at the end of their term to become BDSAYAG Alumni.
Through training, mentoring, and hands-on involvement, these young leaders will receive support
and professional development to ensure they develop skills that will support them far beyond the
dance floor.
The BDSA is proud to stand at the forefront of youth engagement in dance sport and is looking
forward to exploring how this group will inspire positive change for generations to come and
support the development of future leaders in dance.
